Reversible apron in "Berries & Bows" fabric from another Sew Domestic night with the girls. I used my New Machine - thanks to Mom and Nana (more on Miss Janome MC 4900 later)! We all made aprons, inspired by a vintage apron pattern I have. We spent the evening sewing and gabbing about our husbands, a little giddy about their November homecoming, and very speculative about what things will be like. It was all so very 50's to me - aprons and war deployments. Sometimes I forget that so many women before us have endured the same hardship of deployment. It's weird that my life parallels my grandparents' in so many ways. My Grandpa lost his younger brother in the Korean war - at the same age I lost Lora; my Nana waited nervously for Grandpa to return home - just like I'm waiting for J. Our generation is actually incredibly lucky; Grandpa wasn't able to communicate as often or as well as we are today. I have a lot of respect for what he (and his family) went through.
