This year I am digging Christmas. I bought half a dozen Christmas magazines two months ago and earmarked almost every page, making lists and lists of things to make. But in the end, slightly handicapped by 8 days out of town, I decided to pare down my list to the easiest things I could do to "Christmas up" the joint.
My bedroom is a lovely shade of blue and I have very neutral bedding. I wanted to have just a little bit of Christmas in here, too.
It's subtle, but I like the change (I think those mirrors are begging for small black or red satin bows, don't you?). I bet you could find easy ways to tastefully spruce up your room for the holidays. In this case, I bought red pillowcases (not the sheets - too expensive), added a red pillow I had at the house, and added a bough/window sash-thingy I got at Michael's for $2.
James doesn't like the bough sash-thing, but I love it. No nails required. Garland is just a bunch of wirey twist ties, so I stuck two of them behind the picture.
This room is visible from our living space, so I thought the fifteen minutes was worth the time. Do you all bother to decorate the less thought-about spaces in your home (the bathroom, the mudroom, etc), or is that just beyond the Christmas decorating scope for you?

I love it. Your room gives me so many ideas for my house. So simple. This stuff is just under our noses. Thanks

Oh...I totally decorated the bathroom! Haven't made it to the mudroom...yet. We've only just moved, and the mudroom isn't quite organised enough...so if not this year, definitely next year. I LOVE the way you fancied up the bedroom...simple, yet festive. Nice. :)

Your bedroom looks like it's straight out of a magazine - or Pottery Barn. Very pretty! I usually put little things sprinkled throughout the house but most of the decorating is in the living room.

I skimped out on all the decorating this year. I usually put up a village and all kinds of knick knacks, but since we are moving so soon after i chose not to. I love your bedroom. It looks great!

I don't know, I'm not so sure about the decorating the unseen portions of the house. Then again I'm the one who always tilts my head questioningly when I see that someone changes their bathroom decor for every season...

I usually don't decorate the unseen rooms but I was hoping to this year! I haven't yet but there's still time, right?

Hi there!
I am a blog stalker and I wanted to ask a question. We are moving soon (curtesy of the USAF) and I have been looking for the perfect shade of blue with gray. What is the color on your walls? It's FAB!
Thanks so much!

Lovely results! I love the red cushions and the green in the wall too...

I decorate the bathroom, and the mudroom--but not our bedroom, because it's the only room upstairs, and it seems like too much work for the payback. . . .
