I can't believe The Boy is almost here. Little brother. Our son. Terms I'm so unfamiliar with. I wish we had time to get excited and contemplate it all but I'm afraid this little man is starting out every bit a "third child." Our life is already pretty hectic, and getting worse with James' Guard duty (now four hours away) and a new role at work. Both my girls, while very different from each other, are very much GIRLS in the drama/diva sense. And they've gotten very demanding. My photography venture is growing, and I am so grateful to get to keep shooting, but my own standards of myself are frustrating me in the context of pregnancy and the thought of managing three young children.
And yet, when I think about how emotionally exhausted I am, how physically incapable I am of completing even the simplest of tasks (like picking ANYthing up off of the floor), and how much noisier this house is getting as the girls grow, I am reminded of the almost-too-quiet afternoons I spent with my grandparents in their rooms last month. Not only will this season pass, it will some day be gone forever. So, in a weird way, even in the midst of my teary-days, I'm thankful.
You may have to remind me of all this when I am sleep-deprived a month from now...
Those pictures are amazing! You always dress your kids in the best clothes, I love your style!
You have a great attitude about the boy being born, I'm sure it'll be everything you imagine and more!

these are wonderful belly pictures! i'm 6 months into 3 children...it is crazy! ... but when the 2 older ones (6 and 3) make baby laugh and laugh - it makes it all worth while ... i have 3 brothers and am thoroughly thankful for them as adults which is encouraging on those rough days! ... i am thankful that you still take time to blog!

Crystal, thank you for sharing a) pictures and b) perspective. This is a great post. And I'm really happy for you all. I've got to say, as one of six (five of us living) I love having more than one sibling around. It hasn't always been fun and easy (ask me how much I hated having my mom pregnant when I was thirteen!) but it's definitely, definitely, definitely worth it. I am rambling--but I wanted you to know this post made me smile.
